Missing Trekkers Found Unharmed In Misamis Oriental

MISSING TREKKERS – Three missing trekkers who were trekking Mt. Balatukan were found unharmed in Misamis Oriental on January 7 morning.

According to SunStar, the mountaineers were missing while trekkin at Mt. Balatukan range and was recently found at 10 AM on January 7, Tuesday in Barangay Farmbugas, municipality of Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

Gingoog City Police Chief Ariel Philip Pontillas reported that it was the mountaineers from Claveria who met the three missing mountaineers while they were conducting a search operation.

The mountaineers were identified as Christian Daryl Joe Tapuri, aged 28; Dan Dave Del Rosario, aged 18; and Raine Kassiopeia, aged 12.

Pontillas further said that the three were with other 10 trekkers who were eventually identified as senior high school students in Nasipit town, Agusan del Norte.

As per the report, investigations show that the group went on a trek on January 5, Sunday. The three got separated from the group while trekking Barangay Kalagunoy in Gingiig City towards Mt. Balatukan.

The 10 other trekkers were able to reach their goal at Jamboree Site, Sitio San Isidro, Barangay Lunotan, Gingoog City on January 6.

Eventually, Gingoog City Mayor Erik Canosa ordered a search operation on January 7, Tuesday which also involved locals, military, and mountaineering groups.

Gingoog City Information Officer Nicole Managbanag further disclosed that the group failed to coordinate with the local government unit before their activity. The said mountaineers were eventually sent to a hospital in Gingoog City for a check-up.
