Typhoon Ursula Latest Updates For Thursday (December 26)

LATEST WEATHER UPDATES – The state weather bureau PAGASA released the latest updates regarding Typhoon Ursula.

On Thursday (December 26, 2019), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration reported that Typhoon Ursula would continue to affect the weather condition over some parts of the country.

PAGASA said that Ursula slightly slowed down after lashing several parts of Luzon and the Visayas. The typhoon was last spotted at 155 km northwest of Coron, Palawan (12.9°N, 119.1°E).

The tropical cyclone has maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 160 kph moving west-northwest at 15 kph. It is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday morning (December 28, 2019).

The weather agency also lifted the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal over the northwestern portions of Aklan and Antique, western portion of Romblon, Marinduque, southwestern portion of Quezon, Laguna, and some portions of extreme northern Palawan including Cuyo Islands as the typhoon slows down.

However, various Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals are still up in the following areas:

  • Calamian Islands (Coron, Culion, Busuanga)

Signal No. 1

  • Bataan,
  • Cavite,
  • Batangas,
  • Oriental Mindoro,
  • Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island,
  • Rest of extreme northern Palawan (Linapacan, El Nido)

Meanwhile, light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains are expected over Oriental Mindoro, rest of extreme northern Palawan, CALABARZON, Metro Manila, and Central Luzon. Occasional to frequent heavy rains are expected over Calamian Islands and Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island.

“Residents in these areas are advised to take appropriate measures to reduce the potential impact of flooding and rain-induced landslides, especially in areas identified to be highly to very highly susceptible to these hazards,” PAGASA said
