4.8 magnitude earthquake hits the province of Capiz

An earthquake with 4.8 magnitude hits the province of Capiz on December 26, 2019 at 8:19 PM, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

For these past few months, several parts of the Philippines experienced quake with different magnitudes. Several Filipino families also suffered from this unexpected calamity. As they say, earthquake is one of the most destructive calamities because no one can directly predict this.

Talking about quakes, the Philippines has been disseminating information about the Big One with expected 7.2 magnitude. Reportedly, this would be the most destructing quake that the country could experience.

Earthquake 4.8 magnitude Capiz

In line with the recent quake, according to the Twitter post of the official account of PHIVOLCS, the epicenter of the 4.8 Magnitude earthquake is in Capiz (11.19°N, 122.68°E – 008 km S 04° W of Dumarao). The quake was tectonic in origin with a depth of 001 kilometers.

Other parts of the Panay Island also experiened the quake as well as parts of the Negros Island. according to PHIVOLCS, there is no expected damage as well as aftershocks.
