Typhoon Tino Update — Signal No. 4 Raised in El Nido, North Palawan

PAGASA Releases Update on Typhoon Tino as it Makes Landfall in Batas Island, Taytay

TYPHOON TINO UPDATE – Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised signal no. 4 in some areas in Palawan due to the severe tropical storm that left Cebu devastated.

Several areas in Visayas and Mindanao experienced heavy rains and strong winds due to severe tropical storm Tino which caused flooding and massive destruction in many infrastructures and residential properties. The affected areas were advised to monitor the updates from PAGASA for everyone’s safety.

Typhoon Tino Update

Eight (8) areas in Visayas were under signal no. 4 as Typhoon Tino traversed the region. Cebu was greatly devastated by the severe tropical storm that triggered the overflowing of dams. Countless homes were left without roof and thousands of people had to be rescued and evacuated amid the wrath of the typhoon.

#TinoPH is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) through the West Philippine Sea either by Wednesday evening or early morning of Thursday. After leaving Visayas, the severe tropical storm head to Palawan and made a landfall in Batas Island, Taytay.

Typhoon Tino Cebu

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, Typhoon Tino kept strength as it continued to cross northern Palawan. PAGASA raised the following tropical cyclone wind signals in these areas:

  • El Nido, Taytay, Araceli in Palawan

Based on a report on GMA News, Typhoon Tino is expected to affect the locality with winds greated than 118 kilometers per hour up to 184 km/h. The said speed is expected in at least 12 hours.

  • southern portion of Occidental Mindoro (Magsaysay, San Jose, Rizal, Calintaan)
  • southern portion of Oriental Mindoro (Bulalacao

  • Caluya Islands

Luzon

  • the rest of Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Islands
  • the rest of Oriental Mindoro, the western portion of Romblon (Santa Fe, Santa Maria, Concepcion, Looc, Alcantara, Odiongan, San Jose, Ferrol, San Andres, Calatrava, Corcuera, San Agustin)
  • the southern portion of Palawan (Aborlan, Quezon, Narra, Sofronio Española) including Kalayaan Islands

Visayas

  • Aklan, the rest of Antique, the central and western portions of Capiz (Sapi-An, Tapaz, Ivisan, Cuartero, Dumalag, Sigma, Dao, Mambusao, Jamindan, Dumarao)
  • the central and southern portions of Iloilo (Calinog, New Lucena, Maasin, Oton, Pavia, Dueñas, Barotac Nuevo, Guimbal, Iloilo City, Tigbauan, Anilao, San Miguel, Leon, Mina, Santa Barbara, Leganes, Dingle, Zarraga, Bingawan, Cabatuan, Alimodian, Dumangas, San Joaquin, San Enrique, Badiangan, City of Passi, Pototan, Lambunao, Tubungan, Igbaras, Janiuay, Miagao)
  • Guimaras

Based on the report, severe winds, heavy rainfall, and storm surge may still be expected in localities that are outside the landfall point of the typhoon. The eye of the severe tropical storm was estimated over the coastal waters of Linapacan, Palawan moving in a northwestward direction. More updates may be posted soon.

Currently, at least 26 people were killed by the wrath of Typhoon Tino that caused a catastrophic flooding in Cebu.
