John Lennon, a member of the legendary music icon, The Beatles, was one of the most famous names in the music industry. His songs revolutionized the world and inspired millions.

He was famous for wearing his signature round-glasses. One of these was a pair of green-tinted lenses with their golden frame.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, it was owned by Alan Herring, the Chauffeur for The Beatle’s drummer, Ringo Starr, and bandmate George Harrison.

Herring recalled that in the summer of 1968, he had picked up John Lennon with Ringo and George in Ringo’s Mercedes. Afterward, he said when John got out of the car, he left some sunglasses on the back seat.

When John got out of the car I noticed that he’d left these sunglasses on the back seat and one lens and one arm had become disconnected. I asked John if he’d like me to get them fixed for him. He told me not to worry they were just for the look!

Herring said that he never got the glasses repaired, and the pair of glasses sold for £137,500 (P9.2 million) to an unnamed bidder in an online auction. There were other The Beatles items sold in the auction.

Some of these were a hippy necklace with cowbells worn by George Harrison that sold for P668,255 or £10,000. Herring added that for his family’s sake, it made sense for him to say goodbye to his collection.

John Lennon’s life was ended with a tragic death as he was stabbed to death by a crazed fan outside his apartment in Manhattan in 1980.
