Miss Universe Announces PH Gazini Ganados As Real National Costume Winner
MISS UNIVERSE – The Miss Universe Organization (MOU) confirmed that Gazini Ganados is the real winner of the 2019 National Costume competition.
The preliminary competition for the Miss Universe 2019 pageant was held at Marriott Marquis in Atlanta Georgia on December 7. Philippines’ bet wore a Philippine eagle-inspired costume designed by Cary Santiago.
Host Steve Harvey announced the winner of the national costume competition during the coronation night at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta today December 9. He said Miss Philippines Gazini Ganados won as ‘Best in National Costume.’ The Filipina’s photo flashed on the screen.
Steve Harvey was interrupted by Miss Malaysia saying, “It’s not Philippines, it’s Malaysia.” The Malaysian beauty queen wore her Peranakan cuisine-inspired national costume onstage to receive the award.
Lots of netizens took to social media to air their disappointment over the wrong announcement.
Miss Universe Organization recently announced on Twitter that the winner of the National Costume competition is the real winner. The American host was right all along. Miss Philippines Gazini Ganados is indeed the winner of the national costume award and not Miss Malaysia Shweta Sekhon.
