Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Gazini Ganados as ‘Best in National Costume’ winner instead of Miss Malaysia. Before the swimsuit competition of the top 10, he announced the winner of the national costume.

“Here’s a look at the winner, Philippines,” he said.

The photo of Gazini Ganados wearing the Philippine eagle-inspired costume made by Cary Santiago flashed on the screen behind him. But he is with Miss Malaysia wearing her Malacca-inspired national costume.

Miss Malaysia interrupted him and said, “It’s not Philippines, it’s Malaysia…”

Harvey clarified that he was just reading what was written in the teleprompter. Pageant fans including host Bianca Gonzalez took to social media to air their disappointment over the hosts’ wrong announcement on the Miss Universe.
