South Africa’s bet Zozibini Tunzi bested the 89 other contestants for the Miss Universe title. She is the wearer of the Mouawad crown and was able to win back the title after Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters won the prestigious pageant in 2017.

The coronation night was hosted by Steve Harvey and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. During the event, the American host made another mistake at the pageant. It can be remembered that he wrongly announced Miss Colombia instead of Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach.

Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Gazini Ganados as ‘Best in National Costume’ winner instead of Miss Malaysia. Before the swimsuit competition of the top 10, he announced the winner of the national costume.

“Here’s a look at the winner, Philippines,” he said.

The photo of Gazini Ganados wearing the Philippine eagle-inspired costume made by Cary Santiago flashed on the screen behind him. But he is with Miss Malaysia wearing her Malacca-inspired national costume.

Miss Malaysia interrupted him and said, “It’s not Philippines, it’s Malaysia…”

Harvey clarified that he was just reading what was written in the teleprompter. Pageant fans including host Bianca Gonzalez took to social media to air their disappointment over the hosts’ wrong announcement on the Miss Universe.
