On Monday (July 27, 2026), a teacher from a public school in Maco, Davao de Oro, was injured after he was allegedly assaulted by two students inside the school premises.

The educator reportedly reminded a Grade 10 student about the school’s policy prohibiting the wearing of earrings. The student allegedly became upset after being corrected.

Police said the student attempted to punch the teacher, but other students nearby were able to stop the situation from escalating. However, moments later, another student allegedly struck the teacher from behind.

Authorities later learned that the second student was the brother of the first student involved in the confrontation.

Investigators believe the two students were both involved in the attack, which left the teacher with injuries on different parts of his body. He later sought assistance from authorities to formally report what had happened.

The case has already been referred to the school’s Guidance Office and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office for proper intervention and support because the students involved are minors.

Meanwhile, the Department of Education Region XI has launched its own investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Education officials are working closely with school administrators to gather facts and identify appropriate actions based on existing policies.

School officials and government agencies are expected to coordinate the next steps to address the matter and help prevent similar incidents.
