Summary Of The Story “The Tale Of Chunhyang” – Story Summary
TALE OF CHUNHYANG – In this topic, we will now know and read the full summary of the story “The Tale of Chunhyang”.

Also known as The Story of Chunhyang or locally Chunhyangjeon ( 춘향전 or 春香傳 ), it is one of the well known love stories in Korea.
This is based on Chunhyangga, a pansori or basically musical storytelling. The story is about Chunhyang, Sung, a very beautiful and talented woman.
Here is the summary of the story, according to a document by Alison Buenadiba that was published in the website called Academia:
This follows Chunhyang, a spirited, beautiful, but headstrong daughter of Wolmae, a kisaeng. Chunhyang means “spring fragrance”.
She is also a master of martial arts, which is proven when she rose against Pyon, a tyrannical warlord who wants to control her village.
Ryanban kidnapped one of Chunhyang’s friends despite Chunhyang’s bold nature and abilities. Unless an Amhaeng-eosa or a royal inspector appears and caught the tyrant red-handed, there is a little chance that Chunhyang can free her village.
One day, a somehow lecherous but handsome man named Mong Ryong appeared. Upon meeting Chunhyang, he fell in love. He offered her his help. Chunhyang reluctantly accepts and goes to rescue her mother, who was captured.
Sadly, it was too late since her mother committed suicide in order to preserve her honor. Eventually, Mong Ryong disclosed that he is an Amhaeng-eosa and passed judgment against Ryanban.
Chunhyang almost never recognized Mong Ryong, but when he asked a courtesan to show her the ring, she finally recognized him and they lived together.
