Brazil’s President Accuses Leonardo DiCaprio Of Paying To Burn Amazon Rainforest

AMAZON FIRES- Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro claimed that Leonardo DiCaprio paid to burn the Amazon rainforest.

Millions of people from different countries around the world are worried and angry about the massive fire in Amazon. It’s the only rainforest that bulwark against the climate change.

Previously, the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, accused the non-governmental organization (NGO) of setting the forest on fire. He claimed that these group of people want to destroy his image.

In August, Hollywood actor, philanthropist, and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio donated 5 million dollars to help combat the Amazon rainforest fires. He also shared several photos of the destroyed forest on his Instagram account to spread awareness.

He has been very outspoken on behalf of fighting climate change. His Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation focuses on the protection of “vulnerable wildfire from extinction.”

Recently, the Brazilian President blamed the 45-year-old actor for the forest fires. Based on a report from Reuters, Bolsonaro claimed that DiCaprio paid some people to set the forest on fire. The politician offered no evidence to support his claims.

According to the report, Bolsonaro also claimed that the environmental organization World Wildlife Fund (WWF) paid the photos taken by firefighters and use it to ask for donations including Leo Nardo DiCaprio’s $500K. The organization has denied receiving money from the actor or obtaining pictures from the firefighters.

“This Leonardo DiCaprio is a cool guy, right? Giving money to torch the Amazon,” said Bolsonaro.
