Pres. Duterte Offers Drug War Lead to Vice Pres. Robredo for 6 Months

ROBREDO – Vice President Leni Robredo reacted to the offer of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to her to lead the drug war campaign for six (6) months.

Undeniably, Pres. Duterte and the Vice President do not share totally the same views on how to approach the drug problem in the Philippines. It is one of the campaign promises of then Mayor of Davao City when he ran for the highest position in the government.

The President promised to end the problem in six (6) months. However, later on, he admitted that he did not expect the extent of drugs in the country.

The anti-drugs campaign of the Duterte administration gained different reactions from the people. Undeniably, it faced criticisms not only from some Filipinos but as well as in the international arena.

Previously, Vice Pres. Leni Robredo also expressed that there is a need for a “tweaking” in the drug war led by the Duterte administration. The comment of the Vice President did not sit well with the President.

Speaking at the Palace, Pres. Duterte expressed his willingness to let the Vice President lead the anti-drugs campaign for six (6) months. He even said, “Mas bright ka? Ikaw, subukan mo”.

Vice Pres. Leni Robredo reacted to the drug war lead offer of Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President expressed that it is an admission that the campaign failed.

“Kung walang failure bakit ipapasa sa akin, di ba? Kasi ipapasa mo lang ang isang bagay ‘pag hindi mo na kayang gawin,” she expressed based on the report.

Vice Pres. Robredo also put down the claim that she was sent the offer through a private text message. She stressed that it is informal and if there is no respect to her, at least the position she has be respected.
