20% Student Discount On Airfares – How To Avail For It?
STUDENT DISCOUNT – Here is how you can avail for the 20% student discount, specifically when it comes to air travel or travelling by aircraft.
On Febuary 4, earlier this year, the House of Representatives approved the law that enables students to have a 20% fare discount an all transportation, including sea and air transport.
The Bill of the Student Fare Discount Act grants 20% discount on all busses, jeepney, tricycle, shuttle services, Light Rail Transit (LRT), Metro Manila Rail Transit (MRT), Philippine National Railways (PNR), and domestic flights.
This is in good favor to students, especially when most of them are unemployed.
Now, how to claim the said discount when it comes to air travel?
According to PhilStar which came from Senator Sonny Angara, students simply have to present the following:
- Student Identification Card | Student ID; or
- Validated Enrollment Form; and
- Any of the following:
- Birth Certificate
- Naturalization Certificate
- Baptismal Certificate
- Latest School Record
- Passport
Angara further clarified that those enrolled in dancing or driving schools, short term courses of seminar type and graduate studies are exempted from the coverage of the law.
