The country of Slovenia is found in Central Europe. It is also known for its beautiful mountains, ski resorts, and lakes.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said that Slovenia wanted 2000-5000 skilled and semi-skilled Filipino workers. Slovenia is now seeking approval for their deployment.
According to Bello, Slovenian officials have already communicated with them. However, they need to sign a bilateral agreement beforehand.
Based on a report by Philstar, the jobs opportunities in Slovenia include:
- Healthcare workers
- Nurses
- Engineers
- Truck drivers
- heavy machine equipment operators
- household services
DOLE had also highlighted that in terms of minimum wage, Slovenia is more competitive. Bello noted that salaries are much higher than in the Middle East.
“In Saudi Arabia, it is around $400. In Slovenia, we are looking probably at around P50,000 to P75,000, or about $1,000“, Bello said. But, bilateral agreements still need to be signed, he added.
The DOLE chief also stated that a technical working group will be formed to negotiate the terms of agreement. He wanted to ensure the safety and protection of the Filipino workers first.
This process takes about three months. He also added that the requirements and the list of jobs will be finalized as soon as the bilateral agreements have been signed.
Although, one of the most important requirements is the individual’s proficiency in English. He also wanted aspiring applicants to take note that the applications haven’t started yet.
“We do not have job orders for Slovenia as of this moment, we are still working on it. We advise the public to wait for the formal announcement that we are starting to accept applications“, Bello stated.
