Secretary Bello said that the Russian government was in need of workers in the household service industry. He also added that musicians and skilled professionals were also in demand.

However, the Labor Secretary said that they have yet to sign a labor agreement with Russia. This was due to Russia wanting a government-to-government deal.

In an interview with DZMM, he stated that it was difficult to sign the deal as it included the deployment of household service workers. He said that the volume of workers may be too big to handle.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) could only handle so much, he said. He also noted that his office had a similar deal with Israel.

However, that was more feasible because it only needed 1,000 hotel workers. During the interview, he also revealed the salary for the workers.

He noted that the minimum salary Filipino could receive as a worker in Russia was around P50,000 up to P75,000. Bello also praised the Russians for being excellent employers.

The Labor Secretary said that every OFW he met there had no complaints about mistreatment or underpayment. “In other words, they are satisfied”, Bello said.

In a previous article, Bello also stated that Yukon, Canada had given 2,000 jobs for Filipino skilled workers yearly. He added that Filipinos there are well protected and respected without any discrimination.

Available jobs are mostly for nurses, heavy equipment operators, engineers, caregivers, chefs, call center agents, and other local job opportunities. The salaries in Yukon would range from P80,000 to P300,000.
