People remembered the past conflict between Joey de Leon and Vice Ganda due to this
The past conflict between Henyo Master Joey de Leon and Unkabogable star Vice Ganda was recalled to the “stay humble” statement from the former.
It is known among television viewers that Eat Bulaga has been reigning the noontime slot for several decades now. Ten years ago, It’s Showtime came to challenge the iconic TV show. With this, it was inevitable that issues between the hosts of the rival shows surfaced.
People recalled the past conflict between Joey and Vice when the Henyo Master had this statement about humility in a special feature in GMA News Online:
“Bawal sa amin ang magsabing “We’re number one.” Bawal sa amin ‘yung pinupuri namin ang mga sarili namin. Through the years, dapat naka-apak ka sa lupa. Para nagwo-work ka’t nagsa-strive ko to reach that number. Kahit na nadu’n ka na, sa isip mo, umatras ka. You don’t say you’re number one. You say, “We’re shooting to be number one.” Stay humble.”
With this, several write-ups surfaced recalling the time when allegedly Joey did not show any humility. Last 2015, Vice had a Facebook post about the It’s Showtime‘s almost 7 million “real and organic” tweets but the Eat Bulaga got 25 million tweets mainly because of the popularity of AlDub that time.
Based on a report, Joey had this tweet to answer this. “Isang malaking EXCUSE ME lang, HINDI real and organic ang isang bagay na KINOPYA lang. Iba ‘yung developing naturally #ALDUBThisMustBeLove,” the Henyo Master stated.
Because of the statement of the Eat Bulaga host regarding humility, an article from MSN had this remark: “The irony here is that Joey de Leon has never been one to be humble.“
Meanwhile, entertainment columnist Alex Brosas said in his recent article in Bandera that what the Henyo Master showed is just “false humility” and called him “laos na comedian”.
