One of the people closest to the late veteran actress Amalia Fuentes who recently passed away is her grandson, Alfonso Martinez. He is the only son of the late former actress Liezl Sicangco and actor Albert Martinez.
Albert and Liezl have two(2) daughters aside from their son who lived with Amalia after she had stroke. It was in October 2015 when the legendary actress suffered from stroke while on a vacation in South Korea.
It is no secret to the public that stroke left Amalia Fuentes in a very hard situation. She was bedridden and could barely speak. Speaking to Pep, her only grandson revealed that their communication was mainly eye contact.
Amalia fought against her condition for four(4) years before she passed away last October 5. Her family and relatives were beside her when she breathed her last.
It is no secret to the public that Amalia Fuentes had a fued with Albert Martinez before. It involved money and as well as the ceremony for the cremation of her only daughter, Liezl Sicangco.
Based on the report, Alfonso was asked about the relationship of his dad, Albert Martinez, and his late grandmother, Amalia Fuentes. He stressed that they’re all okay.
“It’s just the heat of… alam mo naman si Lola… Passionate talaga! When Mama passed, she’s her only daughter, we all understood naman why,” he said.
According to Alfonso, they would never leave their grandmother. He expressed that she was just initially jealous of Albert before but he clarified that his dad and his grandma were able to fix the problem.
“Every time I’d see lola, and she would watch Papa on TV, she was so happy. Parang… ‘If Albert’s doing well, that’s…’ Papa’s taking care of us and mama,” the younger Martinez said based on the report.
Alfonso added that Amalia just grew up in a different time. Here’s what he also said about his grandmother:
“Kung hindi ka mahal ni Lola, hindi ka niya aawayin, hindi ka niya papansinin.”
