3 Filipino Missing, 5 Others Injured In Taiwan Bridge Collapse

TAIWAN BRIDGE – Three Filipinos are still missing while 5 others suffered some injuries after the bridge in Taiwan collapsed.

It’s not every day that we see a bridge falling into the water that’s why the people who took footage of the collapsed bridge in Taiwan shared the video on social media.

Based on a report from CNN News, the 140-meter bridge in Northeast Taiwan has collapsed. An oil tanker dropped into the water and caused the death of two people in fishing boats below.

On Tuesday morning, Taiwan legislator named Want Ting-yu immediately shared the footage of the Nanfangao Bridge plunged into the water on Tuesday morning. According to the Central News Agency, the oil tanker fell into several fishing boats and started a fire.

The Yilan County Fire Bureau said 12 people were injured in the accident. At around 8 p.m., they found two dead bodies. The president in Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wen said they are currently investigating the cause of the collapse.

“We hope everyone can be safely rescued in the shortest amount of time,” he said.

Based on a report from ABS-CBN, 3 Pinoys and 3 Indonesians were probably trapped under the mounds of rubble. The collapsed bridge wounded 5 other Pinoys, four of them were now discharged while the other one is still under observation.

Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) Director for Administration, Gerry De Belen said their relatives confirmed that two of them were missing.

“Nagsasagawa pa rin ng retrieval operation. Nahihirapan silang iahon iyong kalahati ng fishing vessel na nasa ilalim ng tubig. Iyon ang napuruhan ng structure,” he said.
