Isko Moreno Says President Rodrigo Duterte Inspires Him
ISKO MORENO – The well-known politician, Isko Moreno, admitted that President Rodrigo Duterte inspires him to become a good leader.
Manila Mayor Franciso “Isko Moreno” Domagoso is one of the most popular politicians today. Not because he’s a former actor but because of his achievements in his city.
After taking over as Manila chief executive, the 44-year-old politician made efforts to clean-up and remove all the illegal vendors in the streets. The people and the motorist lauded that mayor for it.
In the past few weeks, Isko Moreno implemented a strict ordinance in the city, gave jobs to Persons with Disability (PWD) and senior citizens, among others. In a previous article, he gave cakes, gifts, and envelopes to newlyweds.
During the oath-taking ceremony of the Malacañang press, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte expressed his admiration to Mayor Isko Moreno. He admitted that the mayor is better than him.
“Mas mahusay siya kaysa akin, sa totoo lang. Oo, may nakita ako na mas mahusay ang resolve niya kaysa akin. Plus two ako sa kanya,” Duterte said.
Based on a report from ABS-CBN News, Mayor Isko Moreno gave a statement after the chief executive lauded him. He thanked Duterte for his praise and said he’s one of his inspiration.
“Thank you for your kind words, Mr. President, but to be really honest, isa po kayo sa mga nagging inspirasyon ko sa kung ano mang klase ng liderato na meron kami,” said Moreno.
According to the report, Moreno revealed he get the idea from the way Duterete manage Davao City. He shared that he was afraid to light his cigarette every time he visits Davao since their law is strictly implemented.
“Kapag nasa Davao City po ako, takot na takot po akong manigarilyo dahil alam ko pong huhulihin ako… as I always say, it is not the severity of the punishment itself, but the certainty of getting caught that deters a person from committing a crime,” he said.
Based on the report, Moreno said the performance of all the politicians is a “reflection” of the kind of leadership the chief executive has.
“I think kung ano man ang nakikita nating pagpupursige ng mga alkalde sa buong Pilipinas, hindi lang po ako, ay reflection lamang ng klase ng liderato at Pangulo na meron tayo… so we owe it to you Mr. President, for inspiring us and for becoming a good example to all of us,” said Moreno.
