Urban Poor Group Kadamay Members Expelled From Illegally Occupied Houses in Pandi, Bulacan

Over 200 Kadamay members have been expelled from the illegally occupied houses in Pandi, Bulacan.

On Monday (September 9, 2019), the Kapuso show “Unang Balita” reported that around 200 members of the urban poor group ‘Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap’ (KADAMAY) were expelled from the illegally occupied houses.

The police authorities politely asked the illegal settlers to leave the houses and the Kadamay members respectfully obeyed and peacefully abandoned the housing projects. The members have also occupied even incomplete houses.

Meanwhile, more than 1,000 members of Kadamay have also decided to quit after the group asked P10,000 payment for houses. The disappointed members have burned their Kadamay IDs as a sign of separation from the organization.

The former members of conduct a peace rally to convince the other member to leave the Kadamay group.

In 2017, Kadamay members illegally occupied thousands of housing projects of the National Housing Authorities in Pandi, Bulacan. The housing units were awarded to Philippine National Police personnel.

President Rodrigo Duterte also criticized the urban poor group members for their alleged lack of manners.
