Public Mourns Death of Former DENR Secretary Gina Lopez Who Died at 65 on Monday
FORMER DENR SECRETARY GINA LOPEZ – The death of former Environment Sec. Gina Lopez who died on Monday left a huge part of the Filipino populace mourning.
One of the environmentalists that a lot of people would surely not forget is Gina Lopez. She is known for her great commitment to her advocacy of protecting and saving the environment.
A lot of people admired Lopez when she stood for the shutting down of several mining operations to protect the natural environment. She also placed a huge hand in the rehabilitation of La Mesa Watershed and Pasig River.
Gina Lopez previously headed the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). She was also the chairperson of the ABS-CBN Foundation Inc. (AFI) for several years. Recently, a sad news about her crossed the surface.
Based on a recent report on ABS-CBN News, former DENR Secretary Gina Lopez died on Monday. She was 65 years old at the time that she passed away.
In a statement, the ABS-CBN lauded Lopez for her service to the AFI and the heart she has for public service. Based on the report, the Foundation expressed their gratitude to the former DENR Secretary and AFI chairperson.
“While we mourn with Gina’s family and loved ones, we also pray that her legacy continues to live on in the heart of every Kapamilya she had touched in her lifetime...
We will never forget her and will continue to honor her remarkable contributions not only to ABS-CBN, but the entire nation. Thank you Gina, for showing us how it is to live in the service of the Filipino,” the ABS-CBN stated.
