Suspicious Box Found Along Shaw Boulevard’s Underpass

The northbound portion of EDSA heading to Shaw Boulevard has been closed after the suspicious box was found on the center island.

On Friday (August 16, 2019), the street sweepers along EDSA Shaw Boulevard underpass in Mandaluyong found a suspicious Balikbayan box. The discovery of the suspicious box causes heavy traffic congestion in the area.

The police authorities cordoned the center island and the bomb disposal team has been already deployed in the area. The authorities also informed the approaching motorists that heavy traffic on both lanes is expected.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority special operations commander Bong Nebrija has already informed Metro Manila police chief Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar about the incident.

The police Explosive Ordnance Disposal immediately arrived in the area and checked the content of the suspicious box.

The authorities found out that the abandoned box is containing “Waste Materials” and Styrofoam. Eleazar also confirmed that the box does contain any types of explosive devices, in contrast, with the speculations that it was a bomb.
