VP Leni Robredo Calls for Investigation About the Iloilo-Guimaras Accident
ILOILO-GUIMARAS ACCIDENT – Vice President Leni Robredo is pushing for an investigation regarding the incident that happened in the waters between Guimaras and Iloilo province.
Recently, countless hearts were left broken by an incident that took place in the waters between Iloilo and Guimaras. A week ago, three(3) motorboats capsized while they were carrying a lot of passengers.
Most of the passengers are families and many were left devastated as not all of them have survived the accident. On the record, it left a total of thirty-one(31) people dead.
A total of sixty-five(65) people survive the Iloilo-Guimaras accident. 52 of the survivors were passengers of the motorboats while the 13 were crew. The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) has suspended the operation of motorboats following the incident.
Recently, Vice President Leni Robredo visited the victims of the Iloilo-Guimaras accident. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the VP is calling for an investigation after hearing the side of the survivors.
“Ang pakiramdam ng karamihan, kung mas maayos iyong rescue, mas marami sanang buhay iyong na-save,” she said.
Vice Pres. Robredo wants a thorough probe of the accident so the one responsible over it can be held accountable. Also, the Vice President plans to ask the Department of Tourism to lift the boat trip suspension in the area.
Based on the report, Vice Pres. Robredo stressed that the urgent request of the people is for the lifting of the boat trip suspension. She also stressed that the option of the people in traveling there now is through fast-craft.
“Ang nagbibiyahe dito Roro na ang priority daw cargo saka mga sasakyan. Mayroong nagbibiyaheng fast-craft, pero sobrang mahal. Ang claim nila anti-poor iyong desisyon,” she said.
Aside from the Vice President, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has also previously visited the victims of the Iloilo-Guimaras sea incident.
