Pres. Duterte Pays Respect to Victims of Iloilo-Guimaras Sea Accident
DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited the wake of the victims of the Iloilo-Guimaras sea accident.
Recently, a heartbreaking incident took place in the waters between Iloilo and Guimaras in Visayas. Last Saturday, three(3) motorboats capsized while they were on the sea carrying passengers and crew.
Motorboats Chi-Chi, Keziah, and Jenny Vince was hit by the strong winds which caused it to capsize throwing the passengers and crew into the waters. Many were not able to get out from the water vessels right away.
Search and rescue operations were conducted for a few days until all the passengers and crews were found. A total of 65 persons survive the incident – 13 are crew and 52 are passengers.
Unfortunately, the Iloilo-Guimaras sea accident took away 31 lives including the life of a boy. Many families are grieving now due to the loss of their loved ones in the said heartbreaking sea incident.
There are survivors who are devastated as their families did not make it out of the incident alive. Some bodies were found in Dumangas which is already quite away from the place where the accident happened.
Following the incident, the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) has lodged a probe on the Iloilo-Guimaras sea accident. The operations of the motorbancas in the said route were also suspended.
Recently, Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte visited the wake of the victims of the Iloilo-Guimaras sea accident.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, it was the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) which confirmed the visit of Pres. Duterte to the Iloilo-Guimaras sea accident victims. Aside from the visit, he has also extended financial aid to their families.
Based on another report in ABS-CBN News, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go also extended some help to the families of the victims of the sea accident.
