MENTAL DISORDERS – Here are some of the strangest mental disorders which you do not know yet and the rare conditions some people are experiencing.
There are a lot of mental disorders classified and determined by specific presentations which were characterized by abnormal thoughts, perceptions, emotions, behaviour, and relationships with others. To have one or to encounter one is absolutely a burden as it makes significant impacts on health.
With this, here are some of the strangest mental disorders you might have not known yet:
- Jerusalem Syndrome
A group of mental phenomena that some people experience right after visiting the Jerusalem. It has an identified pattern of behavior and among those include being obsess with clean and pure, singing hymns, and shouting of verse from Bible. - Erotomania
This is seemingly a delusional disorder which makes the affected person think that another person is in love with him or her. - Taijin Kyofusho
From Japanese that means fear of interpersonal relations and this condition is most common to men. Person who suffer from this is afraid of displeasing other people in any way possible, to cause embarrassment, harm, or offend other through their mere presence. - Capgras Delusion
Someone suffering this is thinking that a friend, a family member, or even a pet is replaced by some identical impostor and this actually affects those who have Paranoid Schizophrenics and in older people, it is linked to Neurodegenerative Diseases. - Autophagia
It is under the classification of impulse control disorder where those who are inflicted can’t stop themselves from doing one particular things which causes harm to themselves or to others. It also means devouring some parts of one’s body and if the action is done, it makes them feel relieved and pleasured and without any sign of regret or guilt. - Cotard Delusion
A study from Jules Cotard showed that sufferer called Miss X has delusions that she is will not die naturally and refused eating, thus, died because of starving. Accordingly, the affected person thinks that they are dead, decaying already, not existing at all, or have lost all their internal organs.
