Davao Occidental Hit by Earthquake with 2.8 Magnitude
EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 2.8 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, July 9, 2019.
Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.
Previously, in April 22, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking were felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“.
Recently, a quake has hit a part of the country. At 03:16 pm today, July 9, 2019, Davao Occidental was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.8.
According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 05.34° North, 125.80° East – 038 km South 74° East of Sarangani. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 157 kilometers.
Based on the bulletin posted by Phivolcs on its official Twitter page, there are no expected damages caused by the quake and as well as aftershocks.
