Inspired by the already popular artists, many of us have also dreamed about being popular singers as well. Some of us, even have the actual talent to be one.
Most of the time, the only thing great artists lack is a studio for recording and platform to share their art to audiences.
But with the technological advancement, it has never been easier!
Here are the simple steps on how to record your own music:
DOWNLOAD A DIGITAL AUDIO WORKSTATION (DAW)
This is where the music mixing happens. For Apple laptops, the device already comes with an app called the GarageBand – that is great software for music management. For PC Users, you can download Audacity for FREE and start with that. (It is not that user-friendly though, so would need to learn the basics on the internet)
CONNECT AN AUDIO INTERFACE
This one is something you actually need to buy. (Or not, if you already have one) But the you need to plug an audio interface to your computer via the USB Port. The device could either recognize the software automatically or you might need an installer for the drive. (These are usually in the CDs that come with the purchase. If not, it can be downloaded from manufacturers’ website.
PLUG IN THE MICROPHONE
This one is optional. It is not really necessary as you can record audio using the built-in microphone in you laptop or PC, but the sound quality would be a lot better with a mic. Connect the microphone to the iterface wih an XLR cable.
CHECK THE LEVELS
If you have set everything up correctly and put everything in its proper places, the set up should be done. Now is the time for you to check the levels. For the microphone volume, some interfaces and DAWs have indicators that move when you talk into the mic. Check on those.
START RECORDING
You’re basically done! You may now start recording your own music! Start with the basics, creating beats, putting together lines and others.
