Imee Marcos Finds No Reason To Impeach President Rodrigo Duterte

IMEE MARCOS – Senator-elect Imee Marcos said President Rodrigo Roa Duterte did not commit an impeachable offense.

Previously, critics claimed that Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte may be impeached for allowing Chinese fishers in the Philippine waters.

Among the personalities who reacted are Senator Leila De Lima, former Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario, and Conchita Carpio-Morales.

In a previous article, President Rodrigo Duterte threatened to jail the critics who plan to file and ‘impeachment case’ against him.

“I-impeach ako? Kulungin ko silang lahat. Subukan ninyo…”

“I-impeach mo ako? I-deliver ko kayo sa Beijing lahat. You want me not only to violate the Constitution. How can I protect the resources when there’s nobody to eat it?” he added.

The neophyte senator also said Duterte cannot be removed from the office simply based on his dialogues with other politicians.

“Nakakatuwa naman pag pinagbawal yung pag uusap-usap ng mga heads of states…”

“Talagang kinakailangang may dialogues, may constant multi-lateral and bilateral negotiations sa bawat sandali. Bakit naman ipagbabawal yung pagsasalita,” she added.

Based on the report, Imee Marcos differentiated sovereign rights from sovereignty.

“We have the prerogative to share these (sovereign) rights with others pero hindi siya soberanya. So yun ang pinagkaiba. Sovereignty and sovereign rights need to be distinguished and what we exercise over the EEZ are sovereign rights,” Marcos said.
