Duterte ‘Committed Impeachable Offense’ Says Leila De Lima, Here’s Why

Here’s Why Leila De Lima Said Duterte Just ‘Committed Impeachable Offense’

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte just committed an impeachable offense said Sec. Leila De Lima.

One of the most controversial issues in the Philippines today is the incident at the Reed Bank in the West Philippine Sea on June 16.

The 22 Filipino fishermen previously claimed that they were ‘intentionally’ hit by the Chinese vessel. But later said they weren’t certain of what happened because they were asleep during the collision.

Previously, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said the incident at the Reed Bank was just a “little maritime accident.”

Filipinos are now waiting for the result of the investigation initiated by the Philippines and the Chinese government.

When Duterte was asked if he’s still allowing the Chinese fishermen to fish on the disputed waters, he said ‘yes.’ He explained that the 2 countries are friends.

Several celebrities and famous personalities have already spoken up about the issue. Recently, Senator Leila De Lima was asked about her opinion on Duterte’s latest statements.

Based on a report from ABS-CBN, Sec. Leila De Lima said the 74-year-old president just committed an impeachable offense. This is after Duterte said that Chinese fishermen were not banned in fishing at the West Philippine Sea.

De Lima said the chief executive’s most recent statement “palpably shows a pattern of an open and brazen disregard of the rule of law and betrayal of the national interest.”
