MALACAÑANG – The Palace gave a statement on the death of veteran actor Eddie “Manoy” Garcia yesterday, June 20.

Countless hearts were left heartbroken after Eddie Garcia died yesterday at Makati Medical Center where he was confined for around 12 days.

Tito Eddie met an accident on the set of Rosang Agimat. They were taping for a scene in Tondo when he tripped on a cable wire and fell right on the ground.

The accident left Eddie Garcia in critical condition. For more than a week, he was in a comatose state at MMC and fighting for his life.

A lot of celebrities have visited Tito Eddie at the hospital including senator-elect Christopher “Bong” Go. The veteran actor is the stepfather of his best friend.

Yesterday, at 4:55 pm, Eddie Garcia joined the Creator. He is truly a legend in the Philippine entertainment industry. Recently, Malacañang gave a statement over his death.

Based on an article on GMA News, presidential spokesperson said that Eddie Garcia left an “indelible mark” in the hearts and minds of the Filipino people.

The Palace also stressed that Manoy died doing acting, the thing he loves to do. Here is the statement of the Palace based on the report:

“It is a heartbreaking loss for the entertainment industry, which he dearly loved. Manoy died with his boots on, in a manner of speaking, doing what he loved most – acting.

Mr. Eddie Garcia, popularly known as ‘Manoy,’ left an indelible mark in the hearts and minds of Filipino moviegoers and audience, with a career that spanned nearly seven decades.

His immense contributions were nonpareil for he was the only Filipino inducted in three categories in the FAMAS Hall of Fame as Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Director by far.”
