PLDT Eyes Commercial Launch of 5G Services By 4th Quarter Of 2019

PLDT – The Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) company aims to launch 5G services in the Philippines by the 4th quarter of 2019.

The fifth generation of the cellular network or simply known as a 5G network is the fastest mobile internet connection.

In a previous article, giant mobile networks in the Philippines such as Globe and PLDT-Smart announced that they will launch the 5G data connection in 2019.

Globe Telecom previously revealed that they collaborated with ‘Huawei,’ China’s giant tech company.

Meanwhile, PLTD said that the latest mobile internet connection will offer a very high-speed internet connection that can improve the services of the government and private companies.

Based on a report from Cebu Daily News, PLDT is set to launch its 5G network by the fourth quarter of 2019.

The chairman and Chief Executive Officer of PLDT, Manuel V. Pangilinan, announced that they are targeting to launch their latest service for corporate customers and select home broadband.

According to the report, the Globe Telecom already announced that they will be offering the 5G network in the coming days. The company is targeting the households this month of June.

Surely, lots of people will be switching their internet connection to 5 G since will offers much faster internet and lesser lag.

Manuel Pangilinan said they are still finalizing their suppliers and other solutions.

Based on the report, PLDT has already inquired about the security issues of Huawei since the Americans accused the Chinese company of alleged spying.

“We raised the security issues with them [Huawei] and they promised to cooperate,” said Pangilinan.

The telephone companies in the Philippines are focusing on the home and enterprise markets because there are still few people who can afford the 5G cellphones.
