Christian Bautista gives his reaction on Idol Philippine judges’ bashers
Kapuso singer Christian Bautista has this reaction regarding the bashing that the judges of Idol Philippines are receiving.
The Kapamilya talent show faced a lot of criticisms because of its judges. Netizens expressed their criticisms as they did not like how the judges are choosing the contestants. A few celebrities were also quite vocal about criticizing the show such as director Joey Reyes and singer Bituin Escalante.
Regine Velasquez, who obviously the sole Idol PH judge that bashers like, defended her fellow judges. Even Moira dela Torre, who received questions of credibility to be one of the judges, justified their job in the show.
Regarding this issue, Christian Bautista was asked to react in an interview with PEP. The Kapuso singer also came from a singing competition and became a judge in Superstar Duets and The Clash.
He related that before a show starts, the judges or the members of the whole production team conduct a meeting to talk about the specific talent that they are looking for.
“So, kung merong mga specific needs yun or wants yung judges or yung production whatever, and then that’s what happens,” he shared.
When asked to react about the controversy concerning the Idol PH judges, he said: “My answer will come from what we did in The Clash. Pagalingan talaga kayo ng kantahan on that stage. Kaya yung top 5 na nakuha sa The Clash, magaling lahat talaga sila kumanta. They can beat me, man! Parang, they are so good. So I look at the talent first.”
He added that social media played a big role why the issue escalated when judges declined to accept a contestant whom for netizens deserves a spot.
“Yun ding comment ng ibang tao, hindi rin naman yun yung majority ng opinyon ng lahat. Meron din ibang tao kampi sa specific judge or kampi sa… which just blew up really because of social media,” Christian Bautista said.
The singer also said that judges have different taste in choosing who deserves the chance to be a star, based on the report. For him, the choices of the judges should be respected.
“A judge will want talent like me, another one will want the looks, another will want a little bit of both. So, hindi mo talaga… Yun ang gusto nila, e. Sasabihin ko ba mali ‘yan, e, yun ang gusto nila? So, yun naman, at least naba-balance,” he said.
