Ballot Box Containing Official Ballots Found on Water in Maguindanao
The residents of Datu Salibo in Maguindanao found a ballot box containing official election ballots floating at a swamp near Barangay Sambulawan.
A Facebook user named Hanna M Dali has shared the photos of a ballot box floating in water in Datu Salibo, Maguindanao.
A resident named Moadz Mindanao found the ballot box floating at the swamp when he was about to go fishing.
“Nakita ko ang itim nagulat ako sunod ang katawan puti. Ang sabi ko baka buwaya tapos nakita ko ang nakasulat Commission on Elections, Republic of the Philippines,” Mindao said.
A Datu Salibo election officer said that the ballot box has no effect in the 2019 May elections citing that there were only about 5,000 out of 9,504 registered voters who voted in the area.
The election officer said that the ballot box only contains 1,778 ballots of registered voters.
Solaiman Sandigan was proclaimed as the new mayor of the town with 2,729 votes.
