This Octogenarian Robbed A Bank Because His Pension Can’t Provide Enough
OLD MAN – This 81 year old man decided to just rob a bank because the monthly pension he is getting is to small for him to survive on.
Recent changes in the society has indeed made it difficult for the elder people to catch up. Some of the elderly people are struggling to keep up with their current economical status.
In a previous story, an old man saves coins for two years to buy a motorcycle.
Meanwhile, according to the court’s records, an 81 year old ex convict who spent decades in prison for robbery charges stated that he decided to steak from a credit union in Arizona just months after he was released.
He says, he pulled the robbery because the Social Security payments he’s receiving isn’t enough for his survival. He gets a monthly pension of $800.
The man identified as Robert Francis Krebs, got to the Pyramid Federal Credit Union in Tucson January last year without any disguise and allegedly brought a BB gun to the counter to scare the person into giving him cash.
According also to the court’s kept documents, Krebs told the FBI agents that he “kind of wanted to get caught” so he could be sent back to prison.
Lawyers for the old man’s committed crime said that Krebs reported symptoms of Alzheimer’s. Krebs was also declared ‘not competent to stand trial’ by a neuropsychologist due to a dementia condition he has.

Some other experts accused Krebs of making his condition look worse to avoid getting prosecuted.
The final decision will be left to the judge who will officially determine whether Krebs is competent for trial.
William Rehder – a retired bank robbery expert who used to work in the FBI apparently empathizes with Krebs financial status. He said:
“They really can’t make it on the outside. He is right — Social Security is probably not enough to keep him going, and he has no prospects for income.”
