Jayjay Helterbrand Comes Out of Retirement To Play in MPBL

Former Barangay Ginebra star Jayjay Helterbrand is coming out of retirement to play in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MBPL).

In 2017, Jayjay Helterbrand retired from the Philippine Basketball Association after spending nearly two decades playing his sport.

Recently, the 42-year-old athlete signed with the Imus Bandera ahead of the MPBL Lakan Cup stating that he could no longer resist the call of sport.

Helterbrand explained that he just miss playing basketball and said that he is already fit to play but he had a lot of catching up to do.

The basketball player also that he is in good shape but not yet in game shape and also revealed the reason why he comes out of retirement to play MPBL.

“The reason why I chose to play in the MPBL is because [that] the practice schedule and game schedule are not that hectic. I think I’ll have more time to recover,” Helterbrand said.
