DTI Investigates ‘Blackpink’ Issue of Shopee
SHOPEE – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is investigating the “Blackpink” issue of the online marketplace platform.
Currently, complaints towards Shopee is making rounds on social media. Some of its members complain that they were scammed by the online marketplace platform.
According to the members, the online marketplace platform initially promised autographs of Blackpink members, a South Korean girl group, to the top 40 spenders within a period set.
However, according to the fans of the South Korean girl group, the mechanics changed in the middle of the promo period. Instead of June 1 as the cut of the counting of buyer’s accumulated purchase, it was moved to May 25.
Based on a recent report from CNN, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is investigating the Blackpink event hosted by Shopee following the complaints of the public.
“Ang mga ganiyang promo, nire-register sa DTI para kung hindi na-deliver, pwedeng balikan ng consumer ang nagbigay ng promo. Either refund ‘yan o may penalty. Inaalam natin ngayon,” Secretary Mon Lopez said to CNN.
According to the DTI Secretary, they are now talking to the online marketplace platform and results of the probe will be released within this week.
We’ll keep you posted for updates.
