Prosecutor Indicts Former ABS-CBN Exec, Producer in Gretchen Fullido Sexual Harassment Case
GRETCHEN FULLIDO CASE – The Quezon City prosecutor’s office indicted the former ABS-CBN executive and segment producer charge of sexual harassment over a complaint filed by Gretchen Fullido.
In October 2018, ABS-CBN reporter Gretchen Fullido filed sexual harassment case against former ABS-CBN official Cheryl Favila and network’s segment producer Maricar Aspec.
The executives claimed that the reporter’s complaint is baseless and an example of LGBTQ community discrimination.
The counter-charges of libel and perjury filed by the two executives were dismissed by the prosecutor due to lack of probable cause.
In a previous article, Gretchen Fullido released the “malicious text messages she received from Cheryl Favila.
The reporter claimed that Asprec asked her to be her “Thursday Girl” or third party but she disagreed on her request.
The two executives allegedly “made it difficult” for Fullido to work as an anchor after she rejected them.
Previously, the prosecutor recommends filing libel charges vs Kapamilya executives Venancia Borromeo, Cecilia Drilon, and reporter Marie Lozano.
The Quezon City prosecutors said those three officials gave negative statements against Fullido during ABS-CBN’s internal probe about the issue.
Based on a report from PEP, the QC prosecutor’ Rosalinda Sajot formally accused the two ABS-CBN executives of sexual harassment over a complaint filed by the TV patrol reporter.
The prosecutor did not agree with ABS-CBN’s decision to dismiss Gretchen’s sexual harassment complaint against the two officials.
According to the report, the prosecutor regards the messages of Favilla as a “request for sexual favors.” They also said her text message to Fullido “signify double meaning as they contain sexual undertones.”
“The undersigned accuses CHERYL C. FAVILA and MARICAR P. ASPREC, of the crime of Sexual Harassment under Republic Act 7877, committed as follows:
“That from the year 2015 up to the year 2017, in Quezon City, Philippines, the above-named accused, conspiring and confederating with and mutually helping each other, did then and there willfully, unlawfully and feloniously demand, request or otherwise require sexual favour from GRETCHEN MARIE G. FULLIDO, in the following manner, to wit: accused CHERYL C. FAVILA AND MARICAR ASPREC, being the head of Ecosystem Integrated News and Current Department and Segment Producer, respectively, of ABS-CBN Corporation, ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center, Sgt. Esguerra Avenue, corner Mother Ignacia Street, this City, and thus exercise authority, influence, or moral ascendancy over said GRETCHEN MARIE G. FULLIDO, required, requested or demanded sexual favour from the latter, by then and there demanding that she be extra nice to (“lambingin”) and be the ‘Thursday Girl’ of accused CHERYL C. FAVILA, and sending her text messages filled with sexual undertones, which sexual advances when rejected, complainant experienced a hostule working environment, to the damage of the said offended party.”
