Kara David Mangyan Scholar passed the March 2019 LET.

KARA DAVID MANGYAN SCHOLAR – The Project Malasakit, founded by Kara David, had one of their scholars pass the March 2019 LET in secondary level.

Filipino journalist and television host Kara David is the founder and president of Project Malasakit. Being exposed to the realities of life and life in the lower class, it has opened her eyes, thus, decided to build an organization that would help a lot of people.

She is well-recognized for her documentaries such as “Bitay” about the death penalty, “Selda Inosente” which talks about the children born and raise in prison, “Buto’t Balat” tackling malnutrition in the country, extreme inequalities, and absence of cohesive nutrition, “Ambulansiyang De Paa” showing the lack of access of the Mangyan tribe in Mindoro Oriental when it comes to health services, and among others.

And these realities pushed her to found the Project Malasakit – a non-stock non-profit foundation that sends poor Filipino children to school. And in the recently released results for the March 2019 Licensure Examination for Teachers, one of their scholars conquered it.

David wrote in her post on Instagram, “Congratulations to our Project Malasakit scholar Patrick Reyes of Mindoro Oriental for passing the LET exam for teachers. I met Patrick many years ago when i did a documentary on the indigenous peoples of Mindoro, the Mangyan tribe. Patrick comes from a very poor Mangyan family. He is a hardworking young man who dreams of becoming a teacher to help spread the gift of education to his community.”
