Advisory: The PH consulate in KSA calls out to Filipinos following reports on intercepted missiles
The Philippine consulate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) issued an advisory to Filipinos after reports stated that two missiles were intercepted.
The air defense forces of Saudi Arabia shot down two ballistic missiles, reportedly, were heading towards Jeddah and Makkah.
Arab coalition spokesman Turki Al-Maliki said the air defense forces monitored air targets flying over restricted areas in Jeddah and Taif province. They immediately did the necessary measure.
According to the eyewitnesses, the missiles were heading toward Jeddah and Makkah, a report from Arab News stated.
As it was intercepted, the missiles were shot down near Taif which is 50 kilometers from Makkah.
Based on a report from Gulf News, many Muslims are now gathering in the city of Makkah, which is between Taif and Jeddah, amid the holy month of Ramadan when Muslims fast from dawn to dusk.
Following this incident, several netizens expressed their rage against the suspected rebel group who is behind this.
The Saudi-owned satellite news channel, Al Arabiya, reported that Yemen’s Houthi rebels fired the missiles.
On the other hand, the rebel group did not make any official claim regarding the attack.
In line with this, the Philippine consulate in KSA called out to Filipinos to remain vigilant.
Based on the advisory posted on the Facebook Page of Manila Bulletin, the Houthi rebels were the suspected culprits behind the missiles fired.
