Tribal Leader Wins in Rizal, Palawan Mayoral Race Even if he Had No Money
TRIBAL LEADER – A tribal leader defeats the administration-endorsed candidate even if he had no money.
Election days should not be taken for granted. It is our responsibility to cast our votes to the candidates who we think is good for the position.
We can’t deny that lots of politicians became richer as they sit in the government. Some of them forgot or ignore the appeal of the poor people they are supposed to serve.
In a previous article, a farmer ended the 30-year-old political dynasty in Narra, Palawan.
Without enough funds for his campaign, his supporters collaborated to achieve the progress they always wanted for their small town.
Also, a 77-year-old indigenous leader named Otol Odi won on the mayoral race in Palawan. His opponent Cesar Magsaysay was supported by the administration.
The tribal leader previously served as a barangay councilor and Punta Baja chairman for 20 years.
Based on a report from ABS-CBN, tribal leader Otol Odi run for the position even if he had no money.
“Hindi pa ako natakot. Tumakbo ako wala akong pera pero ang tao na talaga ang nag desisyon na bumoto sa akin manindigan sa aming bayan,” he said.
According to the report, the tribal leader earned 8,575 votes while his rival gained 4,814 votes.
Otol Odi aims to resolve the coconut plantation issue in Rizal, Palawan because the indigenous people were the ones affected the most.
“Ako po ay isang katutubo na panindigan ko ang aking bayan… hindi ako papayagan na ang mga dayuhan ang mamuno sa aming bayan,” he said.
