PDP-Laban Senatorial Candidates Greatly Backed by Pres. Duterte
PDP-LABAN – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte campaigns the senatorial candidates under the Philippine Democratic Party–People’s Power party.
Currently, it is Election 2019 season in the Philippines. The said political bid will be held on May 13 and there will be both national and local elections.
In the national level, among the positions that the Filipino populace can vote for are the seats in the House of Senate. The Commission on Election (COMELEC) has approved 63 names but former Presidential spokesman Harry Roque has withdrew his bid.
Out of the 62 senatorial candidates, eight(8) belong to the opposition slate, the Otso Diretso, and five(5) are the administration’s bet. They are under the PDP-Laban.
The senatorial candidates under the PDP-Laban are endorsed by Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who also came from the same party. The said candidates are:
- Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel
- Maguindanao Representative Zajid Mangudadatu
- Former Presidential Aide Christopher “Bong” Go
- Former PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa
- Former Political Affairs Adviser Francis Tolentino
Pres. Duterte was present in several campaign rallies of PDP-Laban including the one held in Biñan, Laguna and in Cagayan de Oro. He has also endorsed them when he went to Agusan del Norte.
The President has always been vocal about how impressed he is of the candidates under his party. In one of the campaign rallies, he noted that Sen. Pimentel is a man of integrity and his being a bar topnotcher already wowed him.
One of the election advertisements on TV is Pres. Duterte endorsing Francis Tolentino. According to him, he is really one of those whom he trusts and has always been there.
Aside from the President, undeniably, the campaign rallies of the PDP-Laban senatorial candidates always never fail to gather thousands of people that support them.
Based on a report on Manila Bulletin, more than 10, 500 people came to their campaign rally in Cebu. In Marawi, they also gathered the crowd and the same thing happened in Bacolod City amid the rain.
Undeniably, the senatorial race 2019 is really a tight event.
