Prepare for “The Big One”, Urban Planner Told Filipinos
A certain urban planner was urging the Filipino people to prepare for the possible existence of “The Big One” earthquake.
Over the past few days, the “Big One” has been one of the most discussed topics online after consecutive earthquakes hit various parts of the country.
The series of earthquakes felt in the country destroys several establishments taking the lives of several residents causing fear to the public.
The devastating tremors sparked speculations of possible “Big One” earthquake on the West Valley Fault.
However, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) clarified that there is no facilities or technology has been developed to detect earthquakes.
Recently, a Facebook user named Rex Remition has shared the photo of Urban Planner Arch. Arturo Corpuz urging the Filipino people to prepare for the possible “Big One” through ensuring the quality of their buildings.
Urban Planner Arch. Arturo Corpuz said that the Filipinos should avoid the practice of not consulting architects and engineers before constructing a building.
“Yung gagawin niyong gusali, siguraduhin na ito’y talagang sumusunod sa Building Code to the extent possible, kasi yan lang ang ating paraan para magsurvive sa malaking quake,”
Corpuz said.
