Rotating Brownouts Expected Over Parts of Luzon Announced by Meralco
The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced that most parts of Luzon are expected to experience rotating brownouts for a second straight day.
On Thursday (April 11, 2019), rotating brownouts threatens parts of Luzon between 10:00 am until 4:00 pm due to insufficient power reserves.
Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga said that the rolling power interruptions would last for 1 to 2 hours per area.
NGCP website said that the expected peak demand in Luzon has reached 10,607 megawatts against its available capacity of 10,761 MW and a reserve of 154 MW.
The electric company said that the power consumers could prevent power interruptions by unplugging unused appliances, cleaning air-conditioning units, and avoiding unnecessary opening of refrigerators.
Zaldarriaga also said that they would post their announcement and latest updates regarding brownouts on their social media page.
