Administration senatorial candidates versus Otso Diretso in Election 2019
ELECTION 2019 – Senatorial candidates under the current administration appeared to be copying the Otso Diretso of the opposition.
Under the Otso Diretso are Mar Roxas, Bam Aquino, Pilo Hilbay, Erin Tanada, Samira Gutoc, Gary Alejano, Chel Diokno, and Romulo Macalintal.
From the start of the campaign period, the aforementioned names of politicians have been associated with Otso Diretso. Filipinos, especially voters, whether pro or anti, have already identified them to be in the said group.
On the other hand, a poster of the candidates coming from the camp of the administration caught the attention of several netizens.
The said poster stated, “Sa Senado, Magic Otso Segurado”. The letter “o” in the word “otso” was represented by the number “8”.
Included in the poster were the faces of Imee Marcos, Grace Poe, Koko Pimentel, JV Ejercito, Cynthia Villar, Sonny Angara, and Francis Tolentino.
The Twitter account of Malacanang Events and Catering Services posted the said photo with the caption, “Is this a joke?”
Because of this, several netizens expressed various reactions. Some stated that the senatorial candidates under the administration are threatened of the Otso Diretso.
Other netizens stated that this will create confusion while some slammed the poster.
