April 3 Declared As Muslim Holiday In These Areas

The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has declared April 3, 2019 (Wednesday) as a Muslim Holiday in the following areas.

NCMF announced April 3, 2019 as a Muslim Legal Holida pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 1083 or known as Code of Muslim Personal Laws of the Philippines.

The holiday proclamation has been declared to allow our Muslim countrymen to celebrate “Isra Wal Mi’Raj”.

Muslim Holiday

Under Article 170, the holiday will be observed in the following Mindanao areas:

Provinces

  • Basilan
  • Lanao del Norte
  • Lanao de Sur
  • Maguindanao
  • North Cotabato
  • Sultan Kudarat
  • Sulu
  • Tawi-Tawi
  • Zamboanga del Norte
  • Zamboanga del Sur

Cities

  • Cotabato
  • Iligan
  • Marawi
  • Pagadian
  • Zamboanga

Other provinces and cities may also observe the holiday upon the proclamation of the Philippine President.

Muslim Holiday

All Muslim government officials and employees under Article 170 shall be excused from reporting to work to observe the holiday as stated in Art.172.
