Suspected Case of MERS Followed by Laguna Hospital ER Being Temporarily Closed

LAGUNA HOSPITAL – An emergency room (ER) of a hospital in Sta. Cruz, Laguna is temporarily closed due to a suspected case of MERS virus.

It is observed in hospitals to do clean-ups and disinfection in cases wherein at least one of the patient is suspected of a very serious disease. It is for the safety of everyone most especially those working and admitted in the medical facility.

Recently, a private medical facility in Sta. Cruz, Laguna upheld such move after having a patient with a suspected case of MERS virus.

The MERS virus or Middle East Respiratory Syndrome is a respiratory illness that was first detected in Saudi Arabia. This can be transmitted to other people through secretions. Currently, there is no vaccine yet for it.

Based on a social media post of Manila Bulletin, the emergency room (ER) of a Laguna hospital is temporarily closed due to the suspected case of MERS virus.

The private medical facility will implement a “routine clean up”. According to the post, the patient was transferred to the RITM in Muntinlupa.
