Maguindanao Hit by Earthquake with 4.1 Magnitude

EARTHQUAKE – The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 4.1 magnitude quake in Maguindanao this morning, February 14, 2019.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the latest quakes recorded by Phivolcs is the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Recently, Phivolcs recorded a quake in a part of Maguindanao. Today, February 14, 2019, Maguindanao was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1.

According to Phivolcs, the quake that hit a part of Maguindanao was located 07.13°North, 123.78°East – 050 km South 81° West of Cotabato City at 10:37:28 in the morning today.

The quake was tectonic in origin and it has a 021 km. depth of focus. Intensity I was felt in Zamboanga City while Cotabato City, Kalamansig, and Lebak, Sultan Kudarat felt Intensity III.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin regarding the recent quake in Cotabato City that there is no expected damage and aftershocks of the said quake.
