Filipino Couple’s Drowning Followed by Death of 3 Maldives Tourists

MALDIVES TOURISTS – Three(3) foreigner tourists in Maldives died after the drowning incident involving the late Filipino couple Leomer and Erika Joyce Lagradilla.

Undeniably, lots of people are hesitant to visit the island of Maldives now following the heartbreaking incident involving a newly-wed Filipino couple who drowned in the island.

Leomer and Erika Joyce Lagradilla just married last December 18, 2018. They were in Maldives for their honeymoon. However, unexpectedly, the couple faced their demise while on the island.

The Filipino couple drowned in Maldives. They were rescued and brought to the nearest local hospital but they were pronounced dead on arrival.

The bodies of the Lagradilla couple were recently flown to Sri Lanka and then back home to the Philippines. Leomer and Erika Joyce were both nurses who work in Singapore and Riyadh.

Recently, a news report about the other incidents involving Maldives tourists after the drowning of the Filipino couple crossed the surface.

Based on a report on Maldives Times, three(3) Maldives tourists died after the drowning of the Filipino couple. One of them is a 66-year-old South Korean who drowned at the Paradise Resort.

Another is the 84-year-old Czech Republic national who also died of drowning in the same resort.

According to the report, recently, the police told the press that a 40-year-old Russian woman died in a diving accident. Further details about the incident have yet to be released.

The Tourism Ministry of Maldives are lodging inspections and review of regulations following the alarming incidents. Together with the island councils, they are also mauling on designating safe swimming areas.
