17-Year-Old Girl Lost Her Life After Alleged Attack by Her Own Father
A 17-year-old girl lost her life after she was allegedly attacked by her own father in Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
On Monday morning (March 9, 2026), the incident happened in Fortuneville Subdivision, Barangay Rizal, Sagay City. It shocked residents in the community.
The victim was identified by the alias Precious, a 17-year-old student. The suspect was her father, identified by the alias Joe, 41 years old, who works as a driver and is also a resident of the same area.
According to the initial investigation by the Sagay City Police Station, the victim’s grandfather, known by the alias Jose, personally went to the police station to report the incident. He is also the father of the suspect.
The grandfather told authorities that Joe had forcibly taken his daughter into a room and locked the door.
Police officers quickly responded to the report and went to the house. When they arrived, they found both the father and daughter quiet inside the room. Because the door was locked, the officers had to break it open to get inside.
Inside the room, the police discovered the teenage girl lying down and covered in blood. Her father was reportedly sitting on the bed and simply staring at his daughter. The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital in the hope that she could still be saved. Unfortunately, doctors later declared her dead on arrival.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Alvimar Flores, chief of the Sagay City Police, the possible reason behind the incident may have been a misunderstanding between the father and daughter.
The suspect reportedly told authorities that he had already warned his daughter several times about certain matters.
However, the police chief also shared that when he personally spoke with the suspect, his answers did not clearly match the questions being asked.
Family members also revealed that the suspect had not slept for about a week and had been taking medication in the past. Police records also showed that the suspect had no previous criminal cases.
Authorities also learned that the suspect and the victim’s mother were already separated.
The father is now being held at the detention facility of the Sagay City Police while authorities prepare the possible filing of a parricide case against him.
