Daraga, Cotabato City Placed Under Control by COMELEC for Upcoming Election 2019

ELECTION 2019 – COMELEC took control of Daraga, Cotabato City despite breakthrouh on Batocabe case.

The Philippine general election will be this coming May 13, 2019. This midterm election, aspiring politicians aims to have a position at the Senate, House of Representative of the Philippines down into the municipal level.

Winners’ term will start this June 30 until the end of June 20, 2022. The election will be conducted by the Commission on Election (COMELEC).

The election period has started last January 13, therefore the gun ban will also start throughout the 150 day election period.

COMELEC and the Philippine National Police (PNP) collaborated for the upcoming election 2019. Following a previous article, the PNP chief Oscar Albayalde identified 18 towns and cities that are considered hotspots this election.

Based on a report from Philstar, the Daraga town in Albay and Cotabato is closely monitored by the COMELEC. This is after the slaying incident of the Bicol party-list representative Rodel Batocabe and the explosion in Cotabato.

COMELEC Spokesman James Jimenez stated that they approved the PNP’s recommendation to take under control of the two areas.

According to the report, the COMELEC is eligible to take control of an area where they think it needs to be kept peaceful and order for the election 2019. The act is called the Omnibus Election Code.

Based on a report, this means that the COMELEC will take full control of the area, to the PNP and also to the political units.

The poll body and the Filipino people are hopeful for the peaceful and honest election this coming May 13.
