PNP Identifies 18 Towns, Cities As
2019 Midterm Election Watchlist


ELECTION 2019 – PNP identified 18 towns and cities to closely monitor this coming 2019 midterm election.

The Philippine general election will be this coming May 13, 2019. The winners will take office on the 30th of June.

There are 12 seats for the senatorial candidates in the Philippines. Election starting from the municipalities to the House of Representatives were also contested.

Election 2019 will adopt the automated election system initiated by the Commission on Elections or COMELEC.

The election period will be starting tomorrow January 13, 2019. It means that we will be seeing lots of posters and advertisements from aspiring politicians.

Based on a report from Philstar, there were 18 towns and cities that are considered hotspots by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The PNP chief Director General, Oscar Albayalde stated that they strictly on the watch to those areas.

“We have 18 cities and municipalities in our list but not necessarily to be under Comelec control … It will depend on the outcome of the weekly conferences. Updates will be tackled by the technical working group,” said Albayalde.

According to the report, the COMELEC Commissioner collaborated and signed a memorandum of agreement to the PNP and AFP to ensure the safety of the people in those location.

Oscar Albayalde revealed that 9,000 uniformed authorities will be dispatched for the 2019 election.

Based on the report, Oscar Albayalde was preparing for the terrorism brought by the Abu Sayyaf group.

“We assure you that we will make the most of what we have in terms of the implementation of election security measures. We have long been preparing for this,” he said.

The AFP also pledged that they will be as supportive to the COMELEC’s aim for honest, peaceful and orderly election.
